A historic victory with an epic flavor that enriches Gianmarco Tamberi’s already rich trophy case of triumphs. The Italian high jump athlete climbed to the top step of the podium by reaching 2.36 meters. This is her first outdoor medal, after winning gold in indoor in 2016 and bronze in 2022. An outstanding result that came after a real escalation in which Tamberi surpassed his entry measure (2.25 meters) on his second attempt, then went on to surpass 2.29, 2.33, and reach 2.36 meters. Tamberi’s first major victory came at the 2016 World Indoor Championships in Portland, becoming the first Italian to achieve this. Also in 2016, he triumphed at the European Championships in Amsterdam and achieved a new Italian high jump record with a measurement of 2.39 m at the Monte Carlo Meeting. In 2019 he won gold at the European Indoor Championships in Glasgow and in 2021 silver at the European Indoor Championships in Toruń. In the same year at the Tokyo Olympics he won the gold medal and in Zurich he became the first Italian to win the Diamond League.
